If you are a difficult choice

In the third chapter of the book of Daniel we read about three men - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Together with Daniel, they were appointed to senior positions in the field of Babel 📖 (Dan 2:49). Due to its position, they are likely to enjoy the many benefits that are not available, not only Jews, but also the majority of the indigenous population.

But the day came when the situation has changed. Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold and commanded all to bow to him. All subjects had to bow to that image, and whoever disobeys, was to be burnt in the fiery furnace.

So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego faced a difficult choice: to obey the order of the king, thereby preserving their lives, good, post, and then, perhaps, to ask God for forgiveness, or remain obedient to His Word, refusing to bow down to this idol.

📖 In Daniel 3: 8-12 says that in the end they chose the second option. For this they brought to the king. The king was very angry, but, nevertheless, decided to give them another chance.

On this Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, "there is no need to answer thee in this matter. Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and out of thine hand, O king. If, however, and will not be, let it be known to you, O king, that thy gods we are not going to serve, and the golden image which thou hast set up, do not worship »📖 (Daniel 3: 16-18).



Their response led the king to an even greater fury, and the furnace fueled even more. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were immediately thrown into it. But suddenly the king and his advisers were amazed: instead of immediately burn, these people went to the oven, and not alone, but with someone else who is his view was "like a son of God» 📖 (Dan 3:25) ! They experienced God's deliverance!

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego have decided for themselves that will never bow down to this idol. Although they knew that God can save them, but did not consider that he is obliged to do so. They obeyed God unconditionally, and even if he did not save them, they still would not have worshiped idols king. 📖 In Daniel 3:28 the king said: "(They) yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God!"

Sometimes in such passages we increasingly pay attention to the blessings and deliverance from God. Of course, it deserves our attention. However, here I would like to point out the obedience of these three men, and especially the fact that it was unconditional. Indeed, these people were willing to obey God, not only in the event that he would save them, but even if it does not save.

If we apply this principle to us, we must obey God unconditionally, because they decided to worship and serve Him only. Of course, God can save us but our obedience should not be based on this or any other subject. It must be unconditional!

ЕСЛИ ВЫ ОКАЗАЛИСЬ ПЕРЕД СЛОЖНЫМ ВЫБОРОМ

В третьей главе книги Даниила мы читаем о трех мужчинах — Седрахе, Мисахе и Авденаго. Вместе с Даниилом они были назначены на руководящие должности в Вавилонской области 📖 (Дан 2:49). Благодаря своему положению они, вероятно, пользовались многими благами, недоступными не только евреям, но и большинству коренных жителей. 

Однако пришел день, когда ситуация изменилась. Царь Навуходоносор сделал золотого истукана и приказал всем поклониться ему. Все подданные должны были поклониться этому образу, а тот, кто ослушается, должен был быть сожжен в огненной печи. 

Вот так Седрах, Мисах и Авденаго оказались перед сложным выбором: выполнить приказ царя, тем самым сохраня свои жизни, блага, должности, а затем, возможно, попросить у Бога прощения, или же остаться послушными Его Слову, отказавшись кланяться этому истукану. 

📖 В Даниила 3:8-12 говорится, что в итоге они выбрали второй вариант. За это их привели к царю. Царь сильно разгневался, но, тем не менее, решил дать им еще один шанс.

На это Седрах, Мисах и Авденаго ответили царю: «нет нужды нам отвечать тебе на это. Бог наш, Которому мы служим, силен спасти нас от печи, раскаленной огнем, и от руки твоей, царь, избавит. Если же и не будет того, то да будет известно тебе, царь, что мы богам твоим служить не будем и золотому истукану, которого ты поставил, не поклонимся» 📖 (Дан 3:16-18).

Их ответ привел царя в еще большую ярость, и печь разожгли еще сильнее. Седрах, Мисах и Авденаго были немедленно брошены в нее. Но неожиданно царь и его советники пришли в изумление: вместо того, чтобы сразу сгореть, эти люди ходили в печи, и не одни, а с кем-то еще, кто своим видом был «подобен сыну Божию» 📖 (Дан 3:25)! Они пережили Божье избавление!

Седрах, Мисах и Авденаго решили для себя, что ни за что не поклонятся этому истукану. Хотя они знали, что Бог может избавить их, но не считали, что Он обязан это сделать. Они повиновались Богу безусловно, и даже если бы Он не спас их, они все равно не стали бы поклоняться идолам царя. 📖 В Даниила 3:28 царь сказал: «(они) предали тела свои огню, чтобы не служить и не поклоняться иному богу, кроме Бога своего!»

Иногда в таких отрывках мы в большей степени обращаем внимание на благословения и избавление от Бога. Конечно, это заслуживает нашего внимания. Тем не менее, здесь мне бы хотелось отметить послушание этих трех мужчин и особенно тот факт, что оно было БЕЗУСЛОВНЫМ. Действительно, эти люди были готовы слушаться Бога не только в том случае, если Он их спасет, но даже если и не спасет. 

Если применить этот принцип к нам, то мы должны повиноваться Богу безусловно, потому что приняли решение поклоняться и служить только Ему. Конечно, Бог может избавить нас, но наше послушание не должно основываться на этом или каком-либо ином условии. Оно должно быть безусловным!
